At Amaroo, we are fortunate to have a team of over 400 people across our organisation working together to care for older Australians.
All our staff, including our nurses, personal care workers, allied health professionals, cooks, maintenance staff, cleaners, and administrative staff dedicate their lives to ensuring the wellbeing of our clients and residents every day they come into work.
In the leadup to Aged Care Employee Day, we are featuring a variety of our staff at Amaroo who display an exceptional commitment to their role and our clients and residents.
In our first blog post we introduce you to our Home Care Package Coordinator – Vivienne.
Meet Vivienne
Vivienne joined the Amaroo@Home team in February this year as our Home Care Package Coordinator. 
However, she has worked in the aged care industry, for over 20 years.
“I started my journey in aged care as a support worker and over the years I have worked with many lovely people.
I have helped keep their houses clean, cooked for them, aided them with personal care and spent many hours talking, laughing and sharing stories of our lives.”
Vivienne continued to upskill and completed training in leadership, mental health and dementia care, before taking on the role of Home Care Package Coordinator at Amaroo.
“I wanted to make more of a difference and be able to advocate for my clients, and Amaroo allows me to do that.”
Inspired to help
Growing up primarily under the care of her grandmother, Vivienne attributes her passion for helping others to watching her grandmother do the same.
“She showed me that it is through service and generosity of spirit that we can make a difference in not only our own lives but in the lives of others.”
Despite not being able to see her as often as she’d like due to living in Australia, Vivienne’s grandmother continues to be a positive force in her life.
“When I visit with clients, it is her voice in my head reminding me to be humble and to do my best.”
Considering a career in aged care?
If you’ve ever wondered if working in aged care could be the right fit for you, Vivienne has a few words of advice.
“There is something for everyone, of all ages, backgrounds and experience. The work is sometimes hard, sometimes sad, but it is always something to be proud of.”
Vivienne strongly believes that the work you undertake within the aged care industry not only enriches the lives of others but fulfills your own in ways you never could have imagined.
“This is an industry of privilege. The love, satisfaction, joy and the humble knowledge I have made a difference is something I wish everyone could experience.”
