Food and Nutrition at our Caring Centres
At Buckley and McMahon Caring Centre, we know that nutritious and appetising food is an essential factor in supporting healthy aging. All our dining menus are developed and approved by an accredited practicing dietitian and in line with the Aged Care Quality Standards.
Dietary requirements
Our experienced kitchen team cater to a wide range of special dietary requirements including vegetarian and vegan diets, allergies and diabetes. We also ensure that all residents’ cultures and traditions related to food are respected and catered for.
Upon admission into our Caring Centres, your dining preferences will be discussed to provide a dining experience that supports your wellbeing. Our speech pathologist will review your meal plan if clinically indicated.
Caring for dysphagia
At Buckley and McMahon Caring Centre, we offer texture modified food and drink for our residents who find it difficult to chew or swallow.
These meals are created in line with the International Diet and Dysphagia Standards Initiative (IDDSI) standards which our chefs are trained to meet.
Working within these guidelines ensures that our texture modified food options are still flavourful, visually appealing and provide all the required nutrients.
Feedback
Residents are given the opportunity to provide feedback on menu options at our Food Focus Committee Meetings, held monthly by our Caring Centre Management Team. We welcome all residents and family members to attend these meetings and provide input on our upcoming menu changes.
