Since its foundation in the late 1960s, Amaroo Care Services (formerly Amaroo Cottages for Senior Citizens Inc, known as Amaroo Village) has established a reputation for outstanding residential aged care and independent living services, as well as a strong commitment to creating a secure, relaxed and fulfilling lifestyle for seniors.

Originally located only in Gosnells, a City known for its great climate, pleasant surrounds and community spirit, Amaroo Village was developed in response to concerns about the lack of suitable residential accommodation for seniors in the Gosnells district.  Amaroo Village has since focused on blending quality accommodation, modern facilities and expert healthcare with traditional values.  Amaroo continues to grow with a new village located in Denmark, on WA's south coast.  The first residents moved into Phase One of our Denmark Village in March 2007.  Construction and growth continues, with a further 14 units expected to be ready for occupancy later this year.

The name 'Amaroo' was suggested by founding Board Member, Lucy Wilkinson, and is Nyoongar Aboriginal term meaning 'beautiful resting place'.  Amaroo Village is a community-based organisation run by an honorary Board of Directors.  The organisation relies heavily on community sponsorship to provide additional services to residents.  

Currently, Amaroo Village offers Independent Living Units in Gosnells and Denmark; and two residential care facilities in Gosnells - the Amaroo Village Buckley Caring Centre, an outstanding low care facility; and the Amaroo Village McMahon Caring Centre, which provides the very best in high care services.  Amaroo Village employs experienced and dedicated staff to support its coordinated system of residential and aged care services.

At Amaroo Village, we are committed to creating a welcoming environment that both residents and their families can enjoy.  All Amaroo residents are encouraged to participate in a wide range of recreational activities and our Community Centres offer unique social venues for both recreational and community-based events.  The demand for quality aged care and residential services in Australia is reaching an all time high, and at Amaroo we are already planning ahead to ensure our residents continue to enjoy a quality lifestyle, today and tomorrow.
