In celebration of International Women’s Day, we have interviewed our staff on how they have been shaped into the women they are today and any advice they would give to young women starting out in the aged care industry.
In our first blog post, we introduce you to our Amaroo@Home Care Package Coordinator and Enrolled Nurse – Monica.
Meet Monica
Monica joined the Amaroo@Home Team in October 2022 as Home Care Package Coordinator and Enrolled Nurse. Surrounded by a team of compassionate and determined women, Monica helps to support our clients and ensure they are receiving the best care possible.
A well-deserved recognition
Throughout her career, Monica has achieved many significant milestones – including being the recipient of the 2022 WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Award.
“Receiving this award was definitely a career highlight for me. I realised that I could believe in myself and my abilities. I grew astronomically in confidence and became sure of who I am and where I want to get in life.”
Incredibly modest, Monica also credits this shift in mindset to the strong women she has met both personally and professionally.
“I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without being mentored by such strong women, and I hope I can be this for the next generation of successful women.”
A focus on learning and growth
As if working full-time and raising two beautiful sons wasn’t enough to keep Monica busy – last year she also completed the Australian Clinical Entrepreneur program (AUSCEP).
“When it comes to my career, I always want to continuously learn and grow. The AUSCEP allowed me to hear first-hand from Australia’s leading clinical entrepreneurs, including Professor Fiona Wood AM and Dr. Amandeep Hansra – two influential women in their own right.”
Advice for the next generation of women
When asked for advice she would give to young women starting out in the aged care industry, it was very simple for Monica.
“You must remember that all momentum is progress. Just keep going – I promise you that one day you will look back and see how far you have come.”
