International Nurses Day – Meet Gloire

In celebration of International Nurses Day, we have interviewed our nurses at Amaroo who go above and beyond every day for our clients and residents.

In our final blog post, we introduce you to our Clinical Lead at Amaroo@Home – Gloire.

Meet Gloire

Gloire’s journey at Amaroo first started in 2019, when she worked at Buckley Caring Centre as a Registered Nurse via an agency placement.

“During my time temping at Amaroo, I formed great connections and relationships with both clients and staff. I enjoyed the work but most importantly, I enjoyed the people”, Gloire explains.

It wasn’t long before Gloire was offered a permanent role in our Amaroo@Home team, which she willingly accepted.

“Transitioning into a permanent role at Amaroo was seamless, and it just made sense for me to continue my journey here as a Registered Nurse.”

Journey to becoming a nurse

Like many, nursing wasn’t Gloire’s first profession.

“At first, nursing was never something I really wanted to do. However, after working in caring centres as a kitchen hand and carer for many years, I witnessed first-hand the impact nurses were having on resident’s lives. I soon became to realise that this was something I wanted to pursue.”

Shortly after, Gloire began to study her Bachelor of Nursing and never looked back.

Lessons learnt

When reflecting on her nursing career to date, Gloire speaks fondly of not only her professional development, but also her personal.

“Nursing has helped me develop self-awareness, integrity, and patience. It has taught me that everyone has a story and kindness goes a long way.

Not to mention, nursing is also a profession that you will continue to grow in – you will forever be learning new skills and knowledge”, Gloire explains.

When asked what her greatest professional achievement is, it was more than easy for Gloire to answer.

“Being a nurse is my greatest achievement.”
