How Amaroo@Home Works?

The Amaroo@Home team will work with you to identify the services you want/need so you can remain confident and independent in your own home.

Amaroo@Home services can be very affordable,especially as most can be subsidised through the Federal Government's Home Care Packages. Amaroo staff will be pleased to explain and assist with the process eligibility assessment and accessing the Home Care Package subsidy.

The Government's My Aged Care website and support line are very useful sources of information regarding the process and eligibility for the Federal government's Home Care Packages.

Key points regarding service from Amaroo@Home:

  • Eligibility

You can find out if you are eligible for a subsidised home care package by contacting My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. You will be asked a series of questions from which My Aged Care will determine if you need an assessment by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT).

WA doctors may also initiate an ACAT assessment for you.

  • ACAT Assessment

The ACAT will contact you to arrange an assessment to determine what level of Home Care Package you may be eligible for Residential Aged Care or Respite Care.

  • Means Testing

Home Care Packages are means tested. You should complete and lodge an "Aged Care Fees Income Assessment (SA456) form" with the Department of Human Services so they can calculate if any means testing applies.

  • Package Allocation

If eligible, you will be placed in a national queue for an appropriate package to be allocated when available. You will receive a Referral Code once a package has been allocated to you.

  • Referral & Receiving Service

Once you have received a Referral Code you can provide this to Amaroo@Home, (or another service provider if you wish), so the subsidy can be applied to your service costs.

  • Process Time

There may be a delay from when you contact Amaroo@Home and the ACAT to when you receive the Referral. It this presents undue difficulty, Amaroo@Home may be able to make some interim arrangements - please talk to us to see what can be done.

  • Fees and Charges

Amaroo@Home has a flexible structure for fees and charges to make it more affordable and manageable for you. We will be pleased to cover the fees and charges in detail when personalising the suite of services required to meet your needs. Amaroo@Home does not deny anyone a services they need based on inability to pay fees.
