Amaroo Village McMahon Caring Centre is set amidst the picturesque grounds of the Lewis Homestead on the tranquil waters of the Canning River and adjacent to the Gosnells Railway Markets.
McMahon Caring Centre is a residence that provides a varietyof high care services including nursing care, meals, recreational activities, assistance with daily living activities and protection to residents.
Offering accommodation for 92, the Centre is housed in a federation style building and features the latest in healthcare facilities. Boasting single and double rooms with ensuite bathrooms, each air-conditioned suite opens onto beautifully manicured gardens with courtyard areas offering a peaceful outlook with 25 suites overlooking the Canning River.
All rooms are fitted with computerised emergency call systems, built-in wardrobes, cupboards, refrigerator and comfortable beds. Residents are encouraged to to bring in special items such as photographs, a favourite armchair and television set.
Our McMahon Caring Centre includes a specialised secure dementia care wing to accomodate 24 residents.
McMahon Caring Centre offers a hydrotherapy spa-bath and a unique ‘Snoezelen Room’ used for modern treatments that provide calming therapeutic care. A registered nurse is in attendance at all times and staff receive ongoing training and education to ensure our residents receive the highest possible levels of care. In addition, residents’ regular medical practitioners are welcome to attend at any time.
Group and individual activity programs are offered to all residents, including manual activities in the Mens Shed, and an extensive range of personal care services is also made available including physiotherapy, podiatry and occupational therapy and hairdressing.
Fees
Fees at McMahon Caring Centre cover care (including podiatry and continence), meals, cleaning and laundry. Incidentals such as pharmacy scripts, hairdressing and outings are additional. Fees will depend on income level and assets and will be discussed in detail upon application. Fees are calculated in strict accordance with Government regulations and the Aged Care Act 1997.
Application
To gain admission to the McMahon Caring Centre, an assessment is required by a Government Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) as well as an asset assessment by Centrelink or the Department of Veteran Affairs. ACAT assessment can be organised through your Doctor or hospital social worker and will determine whether you have high or low care needs. Once both assessments have been obtained, you can place your name on our waiting list.
